Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of bfunded. We've written them in plain language — the summary of each section is below it in bold.
Last updated: October 1, 2026
1. Accepting these terms
By creating an account, browsing campaigns, launching a campaign, or contributing to one, you agree to these Terms of Service and to our How it works guide. If you don't agree, please don't use bfunded.
Summary: Using bfunded means accepting these terms.
2. Who can use bfunded
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) to launch a campaign or contribute funds. You may browse campaigns at any age. You're responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for anything done through your account.
Summary: Adults only for money flows; keep your account safe.
3. Accounts and roles
One account covers everything: you can support campaigns, launch campaigns, and — where granted — moderate. You must provide accurate information, and you may not create an account to impersonate another person or organization. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms or that we reasonably believe are fraudulent.
Summary: Be yourself, be accurate, don't abuse your account.
4. Campaigns — creators
Two campaign types exist on bfunded:
- Projects are reward-based, with a fixed funding goal and a firm deadline. If the goal isn't reached by the deadline, no funds are collected and backers aren't charged.
- Causes are donation-based and flexible. Donations are passed along to the cause whether or not a stated goal is met, and there are no rewards.
As a creator, you must:
- Tell the truth. Describe who you are, what the money is for, and how funds will be used.
- Deliver what you promise. For Projects, ship rewards you list or refund backers you can't serve.
- Use funds as described. For Causes, apply donations to the need stated on the campaign page.
- Follow the law. You're responsible for any taxes, permits, or regulations that apply to your campaign.
We may remove or suspend a campaign that misleads supporters, violates these terms, or receives credible reports of fraud.
Summary: Be honest, deliver on promises, and use money the way you said you would.
5. Contributing — supporters
When you contribute to a Project, you're pledging toward a goal that may not be reached; your card is only charged if the campaign succeeds. When you contribute to a Cause, your donation is processed right away. Contributions are voluntary and, except where required by law, non-refundable once collected — although creators may issue refunds at their discretion and we'll assist with clear cases of fraud or misrepresentation.
Contributions are not investments. You don't receive equity, ownership, or a share of returns from any campaign.
Summary: Project pledges charge only on success; donations go through immediately. Backing isn't investing.
6. Fees and payments
Our fees are shown on every campaign page and confirmed at checkout before you pay:
- A platform fee, charged to creators on funds raised. The rate differs between Projects and Causes.
- An optional supporter tip, chosen by you at checkout, that helps keep bfunded running. Tips are always optional and never required.
- Payment processing fees applied by the payment provider, when connected.
Payments are processed by Stripe. Card details are handled entirely by Stripe and never touch our servers. See Payments, refunds & risks.
Summary: Fees are disclosed up front; tips are optional; sample campaigns can't take money.
7. Your content
You keep ownership of everything you publish on bfunded — campaign stories, updates, comments, images, and videos. By publishing, you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free license to display and distribute that content on bfunded and in social previews of it, for as long as your campaign is live. You're responsible for having the rights to everything you upload.
Summary: Your content stays yours; we may display it on the platform.
8. Prohibited conduct
On bfunded, you may not:
- Raise money for anything illegal, or misrepresent who you are or what funds are for.
- Make contributions using stolen payment methods, or manipulate funding totals.
- Harass creators or supporters, or post spam, hate speech, or malicious content.
- Scrape, reverse-engineer, or disrupt the service, or circumvent its security.
Summary: No fraud, no abuse, no manipulation.
9. Moderation and reporting
Every campaign displays its review status and has a one-tap report button. We review reported campaigns and may request verification from creators, flag a campaign pending review, or suspend it. We aim to treat every campaign consistently and to explain enforcement decisions when we can.
Summary: Report anything that looks wrong; we review and act.
10. Ending these terms
You can close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that break these terms. If a campaign you launched is terminated, we'll work with you to refund supporters where funds have been collected.
Summary: You can leave anytime; we can remove rule-breakers.
11. Disclaimers and liability
bfunded is provided "as is." We work hard to keep the platform trustworthy, but we don't guarantee that campaigns will be successful, that rewards will be delivered, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our liability to you is limited to the greater of the fees you paid us in the past 12 months or $100.
Summary: We do our best, but the platform comes without guarantees, and our liability is capped.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product evolves. When changes are material, we'll notify account holders before they take effect. Continuing to use bfunded after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Summary: Terms may change; you'll be notified of big ones.
